Naval Base San Diego is located on the shores of San Diego Bay, near National City, in San Diego County, San Diego. The base is also known as the 32nd Street Naval Station because it is located right at the southern end of 32nd Street. It is 5 miles away from downtown San Diego, approximately 8 miles away from the San Diego International Airport. Founded in 1918, the base is nowadays the primary homeport of the Pacific Fleet.
