Naval Air Station Fallon is the United States Navy’s first air-to-air and air-to-ground training facility. It is situated southeast of the city of Fallon in western Nevada. The base is an hour and a half drive from the famous Las Vegas Strip. Since 1996, it has been home to the Naval Fighter Weapons School after taking over from the former Naval Air Station in Miramar, California. Fallon, where this naval air station is located, is a city in Churchill County. It is nicknamed the Oasis of Nevada and experiences a cold desert climate because of how high the city is off ground level.

Liberty Military Housing manages the Naval Air Station Fallon on-base housing. Apart from the barracks on base, there is provision for family housing neighborhoods. The ones on the base include Blue Sky, Desert Winds and Mountain View. Top off base options includes Sapphire Way, Timber Way, and Lone Tree Road.

There are no Department of Defence schools on the base, but there is provision for a Child Development Center for small children. All middle, high, and elementary schools are off base, and students on base would have to attend schools in the Churchill County School District. Schools such as Lahontan Elementary School, E. C. Best Elementary School, Numa Elementary, Churchill County Middle, and Churchill County High School.
