Francis E Warren Air Force Base is situated approximately 3 miles west of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and is one of the three strategic-missile bases in the US. This base is the home of the 90th Missile Wing, assigned to the Twentieth Air Force and Air Force Global Strike Command. Francis E Warren AFB was initially built in 1867 as Fort Russell and became an air force base in 1947.


On the base, dormitories are provided for unaccompanied airmen. However, suppose you want to live in the privatized housing option; there are a variety of neighborhoods on base to pick from. These include Atlas neighborhood, Atlas Central neighborhood, Historic Officer Bricks, Peacekeeper Height, and Sergeants Row. Some of those schools are Afflerbach Elementary, Alta Vista Elementary, Johnson Junior High, South High School, and Triumph High School.


Cheyenne has a particular mix of the peculiar and the beautiful, with breathtaking mountains, lush wilderness, and awe-inspiring landscapes. You will never run out of places to explore like the Wyoming State Museum, Terry Bison Ranch, Curt Gowdy State Park, and the Cheyenne Civic Center.
