Camp Swift, named after Major General Eben Swift, is a census-designated place in Bastrop County, Texas, located east of Austin, Texas. It has a population of approximately 6,290 and spans about 12 square miles. The military has used this camp in the past, but it is also being used by the National Guard as a storage and training facility. Camp Swift has a long military history that is tied to the development and beginnings of Bastrop. Bastrop County is about 896 square miles adjacent to Williamson County in the north and Travis County in the northwest.

There is no organized family housing on Camp Swift; however, there are barracks on the base. If you want to live around the base, you would have to find a place to stay around in Bastrop. With neighborhoods such as Circle D, Colony Riverside, Colovista Country Club, K. C Estates, Lake Bastrop Acres, Pine View Estate, Tahitian Village, and Hunters Crossing, you have no shortage of places to choose from.

Camp Swift has some schools around that you could put your child in, such as Mina Elementary School, Genesis High School, Bastrop High School, Bastrop Middle School, and Lost Pines Elementary School. The Art Institute of Austin and Lone Star Academy of Allied Health are also located very close to Bastrop and provide degrees in art and nursing, respectively.

Some attractions you could go to in Bastrop are Bastrop State Park, Copper Shot Distillery, Fisherman’s Park, Bastrop County Museum and Visitors Center, and Lake Bastrop North Shore Park.
