The White Sands Missile Range is a testing area for the military operated by the United States Army. It is located around White Sands, New Mexico. It is the most extensive military base in the US, covering 8,300 square km over five counties. It is situated around the southern part of New Mexico, near White Sands National Park. White Sands is located in Doña Ana County and is the leading residential area for the White Sands Missile Range.

The on-post housing for White Sands Missile Range is a public-private partnership with Balfour Beatty Communities. There are four different neighborhoods where you can stay on the base. They are Columbia, Patriot, Pershing, and Trinity. These neighborhoods have management on-site, a community center, different courts like basketball, tennis, and volleyball. Other off-base places you could stay are Peace Park, University Park, Organ, and Mesilla.

The White Sands School serves students from kindergarten to 8th grade for students on the base. You should note that this school is under the Las Cruces School District. Other schools that serve the base are White Sands Missile Range School, White Sands Elementary School, and White Sands Middle School. The other districts that you can take your kids too are Alamogordo Public Schools, Gadsden School District, and Tularosa Municipal Schools.

You could visit the Interdune Boardwalk or the Dune Life Nature Trail when in White Sands. However, you have not really done anything till you go to the famous White Sands National Park.
