Vance Air Force Base is situated in Southern Enid, Oklahoma, around 65 miles north-northwest of Oklahoma City. This base took its name from Lieutenant Colonel Leon Robert Vance Jr. The 71st Flying Training Wing is the host unit at Vance Air Force Base. This wing has a mission to train pilots for the U.S Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and allies. Vance Air Force Base is in Garfield County, where Enid, the county seat, is located.
