Tinker Air Force Base is a major United States Air Force base and is situated in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. This base is surrounded by Del City, Midwest City, and Oklahoma City. It was built in 1941 and was named in honor of Oklahoma native Major General Clarence L. Tinker, the first Native American major general. Oklahoma City, where the base is mainly situated, is the capital of Oklahoma and county seat of Oklahoma County.

Tinker Air Force Base has a gated residential community that caters to air force families posted to the base called Tinker AFB Homes. The neighborhoods in the base are McNarney Manor, Mitchell Heights East, Mitchell Heights West, Prairie Land, Twinning Fields, and Vanderberg Hills. These neighborhoods feature a community center and several activities and events for the residents. Some of the areas not on the base you could stay in are Bricktown, Deep Deuce, Paseo, Downtown Oklahoma City, and Uptown Oklahoma City.

Students that stay on base would attend schools under the Mid-Del School District. The schools they will go to on-base include Tinker Elementary, Midwest City Middle School, and Midwest City High School. Other schools nearby are Southeast High School, Dove Science Academy, Classen SAS High School, and Casady School.

If you stay in and around the base, there are places you could go for gyming, camping, bowling, etc. Areas such as Gerrity Gym, Tinker Lanes, Charles B. Hall Air Park, and Tinker Golf Course. You could also go to the Iszard Pool, Frontier City, or Oklahoma City Zoo.
