Natick Soldier Systems Center is a DoD installation located in the town of Natick in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. The base is adjacent to a small body of water named the Fisk Pond on the western side of town. The nearest major city to the Natick Soldier Systems Center in Boston, which is approximately 25 miles away from the base. The base can be considered as the research and development department of the US Army, as its main mission is to develop and improve food, clothing, airdrop systems, and other technologies that give a tactical edge to soldiers on the field. The main unit of the base is the Combat Capabilities Development Command Center, which is responsible for the development of these aforementioned technologies.

As it is more of a laboratory than a military base, the usual amenities offered in a military base are non-existent in Natick SSC, such as on-base housing. If you are assigned to Natick SSC on a long-term assignment, you would have to look at housing off-base. Natick is home to more than 37,000 residents, and housing is readily available. Although, military families must take into consideration that the area has one of the highest costs of living in the entire country.

As expected, there are no schools on base, DoD or non-DoD. Children of service members are served by the Middlesex County School District, which offers a lot of schools in the surrounding area.
