Around the Northeastern end of the Waterfront in the city of Everett, Washington, 25 miles north of Seattle, is Naval Station Everett. It was initially created as a homeport for the US Navy Carrier strike group. It was built in 1987 and opened in 1994—this base houses about 6,000 sailors and civil service persons. Everett is located in the peninsula at the mouth of the Snohomish River around Port Gardner Bay. This city is close to Seattle and connected by Interstate 5. As such, it serves as a side community for it.

You would find great sites for off base housing around the city of Everett in nearby communities like Marysville, Snohomish, Mukilteo, Bothel, and Mill. Other lovely places you should stay are the Bayside neighborhood, Harborview-Seahurst-Glenhaven neighborhood, Port Gardner neighborhood, and View Ridge-Madison neighborhood. However, on-base housing is privatized and will be given out based on rank and the size of the family.

There are no schools on base, so you would have to explore different options depending on the district you choose. Some schools around the base include Everett High, Emerson Elementary, Hawthorne Elementary, Cascade High School, Lowell Elementary, North Middle School, and Silver Lake Elementary. Colleges located near Naval Station Everett include Everett Community College and Seattle University, which offer several four-year degrees.

One thing about Everett is that there’s no shortage of fun places to be, like the aviation exhibits, the Centennial Trails, Schack Art Center, and Mukilteo Lighthouse. You could also visit the several restaurants around like Anthony’s HomePort Everett or the Scuttleburg Brewing Restaurant and Pub.
