Naval Base Coronado, also abbreviated as NBC, was built by combining eight separate Naval installations under one Commanding Officer. This is comprised by the following stations: Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI), Naval Amphibious Base Coronado (NAB), Naval Outlying Landing Field Imperial Beach (NOLFIB), Naval Auxiliary Landing Field San Clemente Island (NALFSCI), Silver Strand Training Complex (SSTC), Camp Morena, Mountain Warfare Training Camp Michael Monsoor (MWTCMM), and the Remote Training Site Warner Springs.

Seeing as there are several installations under one base, it’s safe to assume that the Naval Base Coronado would be a huge installation. These eight facilities cover over 57,000 acres, which makes it the largest command in the entire southwest region of the country. Consequently, there are over 36,000 military and civilian personnel in Naval Base Coronado. NBC has the largest workforce in San Diego County, and even makes up for over 30% of the region’s total workforce.
