Naval Air Station Whidbey is located near Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island in Island County, Washington. It was built in 1942 and had two sections- the central portion 3 miles north from Oak Harbor and the other section called the Seaplane Base. This base was the first naval aviation base in the Pacific Northwest and housed all Navy tactical electronic attack squadrons flying the EA-6B Prowler and EA-18G. Oak Harbor is located on Whidbey Island in Island County, Washington, United States. The town was incorporated on May 14, 1915, and is named for the Garry Oak trees, which beautify its skyline. Coincidentally, the city’s growth coincided with the completion of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island on September 21, 1942.

The schools serving the air station are under the Oak Harbor District, Coupeville District, and Anacortes District. Some schools under the Oak Harbor District, which is closest to the base, are Olympic View Elementary, Hillcrest Elementary, and Crescent Harbor Elementary.


When you come to Oak Harbor, you can book the Whidbey Island & Deception Pass, a private luxury bus tour to show you the area. On other days, after work, you can go to the Pacific Northwest Naval Air Museum, Joseph Whidbey State Park, or the Whidbey playhouse to chill.
