NAS (Naval Air Station) Pensacola is a US Navy base situated next to a community southwest of the Pensacola city limits, Warrington, Florida. The base is commonly known as the initial primary training base for Coast Guard officers, Marine Corps, and all US Navy. The base is located in the panhandle of Northwest Florida, covering 8,423 acres of land, including at the NAS Pensacola and other locations. With an estimated population of 52,975, Pensacola is the major city of the Pensacola Metropolitan Region that had about 502,629 inhabitants as of 2019.


Housing on the NAS Pensacola base is privatized. There are up to 871 housing units on the base which, however, require full forfeiture of the basic allowance for housing. Middle school students can attend Warrington or Bailey middle schools, while high school students can go to Escambia high school. The Pensacola State College and the University of West Florida are two prominent colleges in the county. Public schools in the region are administered by the Escambia County School District, with fifty-one schools altogether.
