Naval Air Station Brunswick was strategically placed 2 miles northeast of Brunswick, Maine. It was located on the southwestern side of Maine, close to the city. This air station was a massive employer of labor in the state, with up to 5,000 military and civilian employees. The air station was the last military airfield under the authority of the Department of Defense in the US.
Since this base was closed down in 2011 and then repurposed as Brunswick landing, there has been no base housing. Still, you could find lovely places to live around in the Town of Brunswick, Town of Cumberland, Town of Topsham, Town of Freeport, City of Portland, Town of Hampden, Town of Kennebunk, or City of Westbrook. While the base is currently closed down, Scarborough offers some of the best military housing around the Brunswick area.

The historic town of Brunswick, named after a German royal dynasty and offers a thriving art and cultural scene with countless museums and theaters, has excellent schools for you to choose from: four high schools, four middle schools, nine elementary schools, one Career/Technical center, and one combined middle/elementary school. Bowdoin College, also located in Maine, is an excellent place to delve into the liberal arts. It’s an elite college with big names like Reed Hastings and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow as alumni.
Fun places to visit in this city include the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, Bradbury Mountain State Park, Doubling Point Lighthouse, Flight Deck Brewing, Hamilton Audubon Sanctuary, and Harriet Beecher Stowe House.
