Holston Army Ammunition Plant is known for manufacturing Research Department Explosives and High Melting Explosives. It is a government-owned and contractor-operated facility part of the US Army Joint Munitions Command. This plant produces and develops insensitive munitions explosives. Holston Army Ammunition Plant has two sites, one at Kingsport and the other at Hawkins County. However, this base is primarily located on Stone Drive in Kingsport, Tennessee.
