Grissom Air Reserve Base is a US Air Force base located just across the town of Bunker Hill and 15 miles north of the city of Kokomo, in Indiana. The base is spread across two counties: Cass and Miami counties. The base is also 75 miles north of the state capital and the most populous city of Indiana, Indianapolis, and it is also 75 miles northeast of the second most populous city in the state, Fort Wayne. Formerly an active Air Force Base, it was downsized to an Air Reserve Base in 1991. Currently, the base is home to the 434th Air Refueling Wing.

Due to its smaller size compared to an active Air Force Base, Grissom ARB does not offer any on-base housing, unfortunately. Apart from single service members, all military families have to look for housing off base. Kokomo is the nearest city with a population of 60,000 residents. Luckily, the cost of living and especially housing is significantly lower than the national average (about half of it) in Kokomo, meaning that finding affordable housing should be pretty simple.

There are no DoD schools on base, nor any public schools. Children of service members are served by either Cass or Miami County School District, whichever you choose to send your child to. The nearest elementary school is in Bunker Hill.
