Established in 1941, this installation was initially used as the maneuver area for the II Army Corps and for three activated National Guard divisions from Mid-Atlantic States. In the autumn of 1942, Fort Walker was the staging area for the headquarters and corps troops of Major General Patton’s Task Force A, the unit that invaded French Morocco in North Africa. Throughout the following decades, during peacetime and during time of conflict, Fort Walker has played a role in military readiness.

Bowling Green is a town in Caroline County, Virginia, and is best known for being the “cradle of American horse racing” and home to the second-oldest Masonic Lodge. This area has great scenery and quite a few opportunities for fun outings.
