The Villages of Fort Moore offers more than 3,900 units on base, and they are in very high demand. While there are many units offered to service members, due to this high demand, wait times for on-base housing can sometimes take as long as six months! Because of this, families looking for off-base housing have risen substantially. Columbus, Georgia’s second-largest city in terms of population, is only 20 minutes away, naturally, it makes perfect sense for off-base housing.

As one of the largest Army bases in the country, Fort Moore offers an excellent schooling system. There 5 DoD schools on base, four of these are elementary schools and one is a middle school. As expected, there are many schools off-base in Columbus, served by the Muscogee County School District.

Fort Moore is a perfect spot for outdoor enthusiasts, as it is only a few hours away from the Blue Ridge Mountains and the stunning beaches of South Carolina.
