Fort Jackson is a US Army installation located in Columbia, South Carolina. This base is named after Andrew Jackson, a former United States president. It was created in 1917 and is the largest and most active first contact training center for the US Army, training 50 percent of all soldiers that enter the army every year. Other schools in the base are the U.S. Army Soldier Support Institute, the Department of Defense Chaplain Center and School, and the National Center for Credibility Assessment.

There are many fun things to do in Columbia, such as visiting the Congaree National Park, Riverbanks Zoo & Gardens, South Carolina State Museum, Columbia Museum of Art, and Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park.
