Fort Eisenhower is a US Army Post that is located approximately 10 miles southwest of Augusta, Georgia. One of the oldest military installations, it is now home to the Army Signal Corps, Cyber Center of Excellence, and the Army Cyber Command divisions. Apart from Augusta, the base is 140 miles away from Atlanta and approximately 80 miles away from Columbia, South Carolina. The city of Augusta is Georgia’s third-largest city in terms of population, home to more than 200,000 people. The base is located in Richmond County.

On-post housing in Fort Eisenhower is available, and it is managed privately by Balfour Beatty Communities. There are approximately 1000 single-family housing units in Fort Gordon, ranging from two to five-bedroom homes. However, many soldiers using the housing units have complained about the quality of these housing units, which culminated in a lawsuit where BBC pleaded guilty to defrauding the armed forces. If you are looking for off-base housing, Augusta should be your first choice because of its proximity and safety. Also, rents in Augusta are lower than the national average, which is a huge plus. The top neighborhoods you should check out are Evans, Martinez, and North Augusta.

There are no DoD schools on base, the family members of service members are served by the Richmond County Schooling District. Even though there aren’t DoD schools on base, the Freedom Park Elementary School is located right at the center of the base.

Fort Eisenhower’s location allows access to many attractions, the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains are only a couple of hours away, and the beautiful beaches of South Carolina are not that far away too!
