Fort Chaffee is an army installation in the state of Arkansas, and it is put under the management of the Army National Guard. The base is a training facility nowadays, but it used to be a camp for refugees and prisoners of war. It is open to the general public, but you will need prior permission. The base is located close to the city of Fort Smith, which is the third-largest city in the state. Fort Smith was a center of the fur trade, and it was known for its status as the gateway to the Wild West region.

Fort Smith is a comparatively large city, so you can expect a busy real estate market with plenty of different pieces of properties. Some notable neighborhoods in the city are Enterprise, Hackett/Bonanza, Massard, and Mill Creek.

You will not find any school run by the Department of Defense on the premises of the base. However, children study at local public schools managed by the Fort Smith School District, which currently includes 26 different schools.

Notable local landmarks are Riverfront Amphitheater, Kay Rodgers Park, and Fort Smith National Historic Site.
