Fort Cavazos is a United States military post situated near Killeen, Texas. It is located between Austin and Waco, around 60 miles from each. Fort Cavazos is meant to train and deploy heavy forces and is 214,968 acres making it the biggest military installation globally. It was built in 1942 and is the home of the III Corps, 1st Cavalry Division, 13th Sustainment Command, First Army Division West, 1st Medical Brigade, and 3rd Cavalry Regiment.
Fort Cavazos has housing on base, unaccompanied housing, barracks, and family housing. The family housing is divided into neighborhoods such as Chaffee Village, McNair, Comanche III, Comanche III, Venable 3, Kouma, and Patton Park. For off-base housing, there are a lot of neighborhoods close by, such as Harker Heights, Belton, Temple, Copperas Cove, Strawberry Valley, and Nolanville.
