Fort Barfoot, Virginia, is located east of Blackstone, Nottoway County, Virginia and is home to the Army National Guard Maneuver Training Center. The fort is a training center for Army Guard troops and the United States Marshals Service, FBI, ATF, and the Civil Air Patrol. The installation features 42,000 acres dedicated to field training. Southwest of Fort Barfoot lies the city of Victoria, while Chesterfield and Petersburg, VA, are about 40 miles to the northeast.


Since Fort Barfoot is a Guard training base, it does not include many of the features you might otherwise expect–there is no Child Development Center, nor are there on-post schools. Children can attend school in the city of Blackstone, which has a number of public and private schools like Kenston Forest School and New Horizon Baptist School to choose from.

Pocahontas State Park and Point Of Rocks Park are also suitable outdoor attractions, and plenty of fun could be had at The King’s Dominion amusement park.
