Eielson Air Force Base is a military base of the US Air Force. It is located close to the city of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Moose Creeks, Alaska. The base has been in operation since 1943, and it received major renovations in 1948. It is currently the host of the 354th Fighter Wing, and it features a population of about 2,600 inhabitants in 2020. The city of Fairbanks, which is only 26 miles away from the base, is the second-largest city in the state of Alaska. It is also the second-most populous city in the state as well, and it hosts the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the first campus in the University of Alaska ecosystem.
