Dover Air Force Base is a US Air Force base controlled and operated by the United States Air Mobility Command. The Dover AFB is located two miles southeast of Dover, Delaware, its host wing being both the 436th “Eagle Wing” Airlift Wing and its reserve associate; the 512th Airlift Wing. The 436th Airlift Wing runs the largest and busiest air freight in the DoD (Department of Defense); the Dover AFB has an 8.8-meter elevation. The Air Force base in Dover is the home for the largest military mortuary in the DoD, the Air Mobility Command Museum. Dove AFB is home to about 3,300 individuals, from military to civilian personnel.

Housing in Dover Air Force base consists of Eagle Heights Family Housing (EHFH), a development made up of 980 homes in different configurations. The configurations include single-family, duplex triplex, and fourplex buildings; the EHFH covers 19,500 feet of greenbelt paths for biking, jogging, and walking. The development in Dover AFB features multiple neighborhood centers, fitness centers, picnic areas, a golf course, and a community center. The area is the third-largest industry in Delaware, providing more than $450 million annually in revenue to Dover city. Other neighborhoods you can stay in include Woodstock Court, Woods Manor, Annefield, and Lakewood.

There are no DoD schools in Dover Air Force Base; students in the area attend public schools in the Caesar Rodney School District. The schools include Dover Air Base Middle School, Caesar Rodney High School, Welch George Elementary School, and McIlvaine Early Childhood Centers. There are approximately four middle schools, one high school, six elementary schools, one early childhood center, and one special school in the area.

Dover AFB is especially popular because of the 1301-th hanger which is home to the museum of Air Mobility Command, which contains a collection of several restored aircraft.
