Camp Blanding is a military joint reservation and training base for Florida National Guard located in Clay County, Florida, near Starke. Camp Starke is the nearest city to the training site, eight miles away, with the urban area of Jacksonville, Florida, being thirty-six miles away. The camp serves used for training, including for maneuvers and trainings that don’t require flying. Clay County is situated in northeast Florida, United States, with an estimated population of 219,252 as of 2019.

Public secondary schools in Clay County are administrated by the Clay County School District. Schools in the county include Argyle Elementary, Patterson Elementary, Oakleaf Junior High, Orange Park Junior High, Ridgeview High School, and Middleburg High School. Clay County has eight colleges, including the American Academy of Cosmetology, Fortis College, and North Florida Academy.
