Camp Beauregard is located on the northeastern end of the city of Pineville, Rapides Parish, Louisiana. The base is 5 miles away from central Pineville, 7 miles away from downtown Alexandria and 110 miles away from Baton Rouge, the state capital and the second-most populous city in the state (right after New Orleans). Founded during World War I, nowadays the base is the main training area for the Louisiana National Guard, spanning across a 32 square mile area.

Camp Beauregard does offer on-base housing, however, it is very limited in supply. If you are assigned to Camp Beauregard on a long-term assignment, you are most likely going to have to look for housing off-base. Pineville, a city of 14,000 residents, offers many rental houses for military families looking for off-base housing, and if not, the city of Alexandria of 48,000 residents can also offer housing. Both the cost of living and rental prices are considerably lower than the national average for both of these cities, which makes off-base housing advantageous.

There are no DoD schools on base, and there aren’t any public schools on base either. The nearest public school outside the base is Tioga Elementary School, located just outside the base. The nearest middle school is in central Pineville, a bit further away from the base. Children of service members are served by the Rapides Parish School District.
