Blount Island Command is a US Marine base located on the east side of Blount Island and controlled by the US Marine Corps. Blount Island is an 8.1-kilometer island located on the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida. It is located nine nautical miles or 16.7 kilometers west of the Atlantic Ocean, hosting one of the three public cargo facilities. The Island falls under the jurisdiction of Duval County, which is located in the northeastern portion of Florida, US.

Housing on Blount Island includes temporary and permanent housing, depending on how long residents are staying. There is temporary on-base housing for servicemen visiting the base for a short time and permanent housing for stationed servicemen. Residents can also rely on the off-site housing system where they can buy or rent a home, in case they can’t secure the provided accommodation. The top five off-base neighborhoods around Blount Island Command include Chandlers Crossing, Beacon Hills, Harbour Neighborhood, San Mateo, and Little Marsh Hill.

There are no DoD schools in Blount Island Command; public schools in the county are operated by Duval County Public Schools. Duval County has 196 schools including charter schools, magnet schools, and alternative schools. High schools in the Jacksonville neighborhood include Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, Stanton College Preparatory School, and Bishop Kenny High School. There are a number of higher institutions in Jacksonville, including Jacksonville University, Edward Waters College, and Florida Coastal School of Law.
