This center for the United States Department of Defense (DoD) was established in 1953 and specializes in electronic systems. Tobyhanna Army Depot’s mission is to upgrade, repair, and integrate several commands, communication, surveillance, and intelligence in the area. Over the years, their activities have become the design, manufacture, and overhauling of several electronic systems such as radio, satellite, airborne surveillance, electronic warfare, and tactical missiles. This base is in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, and spans through Coolbaugh Township and Monroe County.

The Tobyhanna Army Depot Housing Office manages post housing for active-duty families on the base. It consists of 42 government-owned family quarters that range from three to four-bedroom duplexes and townhouses. Neighborhoods off base that one can stay in include Tobyhanna Southwest, Pocono Country Place, Tobyhanna West, Tobyhanna East, and Tobyhanna Southeast.

The base has no schools around, but the Pocono Mountain School District serves students living in and around the base. Some schools under this district are Tobyhanna El Center, Pocono Mountain East High School, Pocono Mountain East Junior High School, Clear Run Intermediate School, and Pocono Mountain West.

Tobyhanna is a quiet incorporated town in Monroe County that should not be confused with Tobyhanna Township. Still, despite the obscurity of this town, there are activities that one can be part of around the area. Such as visiting the Crystal Gardens, Big Screen Escapes, Casino Theatre Entertainment Center, and going for a family outing at the Pocono Country Place.
