The Pentagon area does not have any housing service, if you are assigned to The Pentagon on a long-term assignment you would have to either seek housing within the local community or look for housing in the military bases in the near vicinity. Near The Pentagon, there are two bases: Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, and Joint Base Fort Myer-Henderson Hall. Both are very close to The Pentagon, Anacostia-Bolling is approximately 7 miles away and Fort Myer-Henderson Hall is 3 miles away. However, Fort Myer-Henderson Hall has a very limited housing supply and they are only available for officers. Anacostia-Bolling has more housing units available on the base. If you want to live in the local community, you would have to live a bit further away from The Pentagon because the National Capital Region (NCR) has a very high cost of living, much higher than the national average. Also, keep in mind that since many people also live further away from the NCR, commuting times can be quite long, so when you are house hunting, try to look for one near a metro line, which is quite extensive and widely used by the city’s residents. Both Blue and Yellow Lines of the metro have a stop right under The Pentagon.
As expected, there are no public schools in The Pentagon. Children of service members are served by either the DC, Virginia, or Maryland public schools depending on where they are.
