US Coast Guard Sector, SouthEast New England is a coast guard station in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. It is a military service that has been owned by the United States Coast Guard that consists of eight different stations. These eight stations are situated from Manomet Point in Massachusetts to Watch Hill in Rhode Hills, covering 1,200 miles of coastline in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Woods Hole, where this base is located, is at the southern side of Cape Cod with a small population of less than 1,000 and thrives in its heavy ocean economy, from fishing to shipping and marine research.

Housing in Woods Hole is very diverse because of its strategic location in the southwestern part of Cape Cod. You could choose to live in Woods Hole and enjoy the area’s rural feel or take a ferry across to Martha’s Vineyard or the Elizabeth Islands if you are looking for a more vibrant place.

The base does not have an onsite school, but because of the strategic location, there are several schools you could choose from either in Woods Hole or in any of the ten school districts in Cape Cod. There are three preschools, one elementary school, and three private schools; however, there is no high school in Woods Hole. Still, you could go to any high school in Falmouth County like the Falmouth High School or Belmont High School among others. There are also several after-school internships that your children could get at Woods Hole Science Aquarium.

Even though Woods Hole is a small town, it has many attractions like the Nobska Point lighthouse, Woods Hole Science Aquarium, and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. You can also take a ferry to Martha’s Vineyard in Cape Cod and enjoy a relaxing evening.
