Naval Support Activity Crane offers on-base housing, but it is privatized. There are two-to-four-bedroom homes on offer within the base for all pay grades and ranks, however since supply is limited waiting times can be quite long, which is why there are a lot of families are looking for housing off the base. The closest city to the base is called Bedford, with a population of 14,000. Luckily, the cost of living and rental prices are significantly lower than the national average in Bedford.

There are no DoD schools on base, and there aren’t any public schools situated on base either. The nearest elementary and middle school is located in the city of Bedford, which is about 25 miles away from the base.
