The Medical Education and Training Campus (METC) is a part of the military’s largest medical educational and treatment facility and teaching hospital. Located on Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, the Medical Education and Training Campus utilizes Camp Bullis for field training. The METC was established in 2010 as part of the decision made by the Base realignment and Closure Commission and was made a part of Joint Base San Antonio. This facility has 48 programs of study and is attended by enlisted students from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and a small number of foreign military students.

The City of San Antonio was founded as a Spanish mission and colonial outpost in 1718. San Antonio was established as the first chartered civil settlement in present-day Texas and is Texas’ oldest municipality. This historic city has a rich colonial heritage, being home to five 18th-century Spanish frontier missions which have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Serving as the seat of Bexar County, Texas, San Antonio is the center of the San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area, commonly called the Greater San Antonio. Currently, San Antonio is the third largest city in Texas and is home to many connected to the United States Military.
