Henderson Hall is a United States Marine Corps installation that is located in Arlington County, Virginia, next to Fort Myer. In WWII, the Marine Corps expanded, its headquarters were moved to the Navy Annex Building in 1941, and Henderson Hall supported the headquarters personnel. In 1943, a second Headquarters Battalion of Women Marine Reserves was organized to provide barracks for a portion of the women assigned. A large number of Women Marines were released from active duty in 1946, making Henderson Hall barracks available for the billeting of male Marines. Between 1943 and 1952, the lands associated with Henderson Hall were formally acquired through deeds and other actions followed by the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia executing a Deed of Cession of Political Jurisdiction to the United States of America in 1954. Arlington County lies directly across from Washington, D.C., on the southwestern bank of the Potomac River. Arlington, Virginia has quite a few interesting and historical places for residents and visitors to enjoy including the Arlington National Cemetery, the United States Marine Corps War Memorial, the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial, the Air Force Memorial, the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, Arlington House, the Mount Vernon Trail, the DEA Museum & Visitors Center, The Pentagon, Signature Theatre, Upton Hill Regional Park, and many restaurants, public parks, and shopping locations.


For who have been stationed at Henderson Hall, housing on base is available for single soldiers that are E-5 and below. No on-post housing for senior enlisted, officers, married soldiers, or their families is available, however, there are many safe neighborhoods in Arlington that provide housing that is conveniently located a short distance away from Fort Myer and include Riverwood, Lyon Village, Dover Crystal, Donaldson Run, North Rosslyn, Maywood, and Old Dominion, as well as others.
