A part of Air Education and Training Command, Goodfellow Air Force Base was built in 1940 and continues to be an active United Air Force Base. This is a non-flying base that is primarily a training facility. Goodfellow AFB provides cryptologic and intelligence training for members of the Air Force, Space Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy, and Marine Corps. The base is located just outside San Angelo, Texas, a military-friendly city in Tom Green County.

San Angelo, Texas is a small, bustling city that resides along the Concho River. The principal city of the San Angelo Metropolitan area, San Angelo has a population of just over 100,000 and is home to Angelo State University, Goodfellow Air Force Base, and Fort Concho. This little city has many interesting sites for residents and visitors to enjoy including the Fort Concho National Historic Landmark, San Angelo Visitor Center, Concho River Walk, San Angelo State Park, The International Waterlily Collection, Miss Hattie’s Bordello Museum, and the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts.

On-base housing is available in barracks for junior enlisted members who have less than three years of service. For all service members with three or more years of service, you will be required to find housing off-base. For those who are accompanied by families, there are no on-base options.
