Fort Monmouth was an army installation in Monmouth County, New Jersey, located five miles from the Atlantic Ocean and covers 1,126 acres of land. This former installation runs from Shrewsbury River to Route 35. Fort Monmouth housed several U.S. Army Materiel Command units that had operations in research, command, control, reconnaissance, and surveillance. This base is surrounded by towns like Tinton Falls and Oceanport but is located in Eatontown, which is a borough in New Jersey situated at the intersection of Route 35 and Route 36 and is known for its numerous stores and restaurants.

Fort Monmouth may have closed down on September 11, 2011, and all operations moved to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, but there are still rentals open on the base. Off base options include neighborhoods in Eatontown, Oceanport, and Tinton Falls. The top communities in Eatontown to stay are Sea Girt, West Belmar, Parker Rd, Old Orchard, and Woodmere.

There are no schools on base, but you can enroll your child in Meadowbrook School, Woodmere Elementary, Margaret L Vetter Elementary, Hawkwood School, Harbor School, or Voyager Community School. Despite the fact that Eatontown is a small city, it has a college called Fairleigh Dickinson University that offers programs ranging from biological sciences to engineering. Other good colleges around include St. Paul’s School of Nursing, Monmouth University, and Medical Career Institute.

Monmouth Park, Wolcott Park, Wolf Hill Recreation Area, and Leon Smock Park are just a few of the sights you can enjoy in Eatontown.
