It is home to about 15,000 people and covers more than 61,000 acres. The Fort was built in 1941 and operated for more than 75 years, training and educating nearly 90,000 troops yearly. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the heart of the Ozark Mountains, which provide plenty of biking trails, hiking trails, river activities, camping, and horse riding.
