Fort Hamilton is a United States Army installation located in the southwestern part of New York City’s borough of Brooklyn. It is surrounded by the communities of Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights and is one of the posts which the Military District of Washington heads. The original fort was built in 1831 and had additions in the 1870s and 1900s. The base is meant to provide the New York metropolitan area with military support for the Army National Guard and the United States Army Reserve.


There is provision for military housing on Fort Hamilton apart from the Fort Hamilton Barracks. Furthermore, there are different housing options on base like Colonel’s Row, Doubleday Village, Ocean View (Lower and Upper), and Officers Row.
