Columbus Air Force Base is where the 14th Flying Training Wing, part of Air Education and Training Command, is located. This base has a specialised 52-week Undergraduate Pilot Training and is situated at Columbus, at the eastern border of Mississippi on Simler Boulevard. This city was nicknamed Possum Town by the locals and is steeped in historical events. In fact, the first memorial day celebration was held here.

Schools like Mississippi School for Mathematics, Science, Heritage Academy, Fairview Elementary Aerospace, and Magnet School etc. Also, the base has a good air force school where people can come and learn pilot education and other air defence training. East Mississippi Community College even has Columbus Air Force Base Extension.

Columbus, Mississippi, has top sights like Lake Lowndes State Park and the Plymouth Bluff Environment Centre. Other exciting things to do is visiting water parks like Slip N Dip, and Stennis East Bank Recreation Area etc.
