Chocolate Mountain Range is a bombing range managed by the US Marine Corps. The range itself has been in operation since as far back as the 1940s, and it is used mainly for bombing practices as well as live-fire aerial gunnery practice sessions. The range is currently under the control of Marine Corps Air Station Yuma. The nearest major city to the range is El Centro, California. This city is the largest city in Imperial County, and it serves as an industrial center of the region, offering a concentration of agricultural and transportation industries.

El Centro is a major city with a relatively small population, so you can expect to easily find affordable properties with ease. The city’s most notable neighborhoods are El Centro Southeast, El Centro Southwest, and El Centro South.

Chocolate Mountain Range does not feature any schools under the direct management of the Department of Defense, so your children will have to attend one of the local public schools in the area for education. These schools are managed by the local school districts: McCabe Union Elementary School District, El Centro School District, and Central Union High School District.

There are plenty of places you can visit and activities you can enjoy while staying in El Centro. Some notable places are the Church of The Nazarene and the Lakeview Golf Course.
